Cerberus eyeing investments in risky Brazilian assets

Investing in companies facing deep crises and in need for capital. This is the specialty of Cerberus Capital Management, an investment company that has $25 billion under management. Not coincidentally, Brazil has become a target. RK Partners, of Ricardo Knoepfelmacher, formed a partnership last week to seek opportunities for the American fund. Established in 1992, Cerberus has not made any transaction in Brazil, despite being exposed to many other emerging countries. We believe there will be a window of opportunity in Brazil for at least three years for investment in risky assets, companies in crisis. The recession is generating this opportunity and has created situations where solid companies need financial and operational assistance,” said Cerberus spokesman Chip Smith. Cerberus prefers not to disclose the minimum value for its investments. There is also no standard or maximum value. Everything depends on the size of the opportunity.
